WOYWW Dec 22/10

I have finished my big Christmas Project!  It is an Advent Calendar box.  I borrowed the idea of it from Stamping Mathilda but made different tags and decorations of course.  This was really fun to make and really made me get creative to do 24 different tags.  And it made my desk the messiest it has ever been!  So I am happy to get this in just under the wire for WOYWW this week.  It is still Wednesday here in Canada, so I am just in time!
Here are a couple of close up shots of the inside of the box.  I am thinking I may tie a big ribbon and bow across the front to hide the dowel that everything is hanging from.  My original idea was that the tags could be taken off and then be put on one by one as the days of December
pass.  And right now it is easy to do that because the dowel will slide out.  But it looks so nice with all the tags in at once and a nice big ribbon would finish it off nicely.  I may do that tomorrow.  I made two of these boxes, one for me and one for a friend for Christmas!

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2011 !!!

Nutcracker Card

A Xmas card I made for a friend who collects Nutcrackers.  It's the first time I tore up paper to use as a background (and for the sentiment), and it was fun!  I really enjoyed not having to worry about straight lines, hee hee!

What's On Your Wordesk? Wednesday Dec 15/10

It is time again for What's On Your Wednesday!  Check out all the desks here
at The Stamping Ground .
Originally I was just going to show the area on my craft sheet where the actual work is going on.  But then I decided I should show the pile of stuff that has been shoved out of the way to make the work area!  I am still working on The Xmas Project and tonight tackled the bit that I was avoiding (not pictured here) because I didn't exactly know how I was going to do it.  And then when I started to play around with it, it just all worked out so easily that it renewed my hope that this Project just might get done by Christmas!  So hopefully there will be a picture of the finished project soon!  Merry Xmas!

Still making Xmas cards

There are only 11 days left until Xmas!  And I am still not quite done making xmas cards.  I had a good early start on them but somehow I still need just a few more.  I will be able to get the last few done I am sure but I am not sure if I will be able to get my big Christmas Project done.  But I think I have come to terms with that fact and will not stress myself about it.  There is always next year!  And that way, I can enjoy the last few days before Christmas instead of rushing my project and possibly cutting corners or ruining it.
I had also made some gift tags but I wrapped up all the presents I had and attached the tags before taking pictures of them.  I may also make a few more tags and will try to remember to take pictures if I do!
I wish anyone and everyone who is reading this a Very Merry Christmas!

MoonGirl Xmas Card

I received this Xmas card from Sam at My Crafty Dog and I .
She always makes the most beautiful and whimsical pieces.  She has used my favourite stamp called MoonGirl.  I finally got my very own MoonGirl stamp a couple of weeks ago and I hope to use it a lot!  Until then, I like to stare at Sam's card and dream.  Thank you Sam!

WOYWW December 1st 2010

It is December 1st and Christmas has exploded on my desk!
I am just starting a project for Christmas here and it has many many pieces so I have lots of xmas stuff out.  I sure hope I can finish it before xmas!  And I guess if I don't, I will have a good start on it for next xmas, ha ha!  I am still undecided if I will post pictures of this as I go along or just post the finished product at the end.  But I will say, so far this is FUN !!  Yes, FUN all in caps!  It is really stirring up the creative juices and has me very excited to see what will happen!
If you are wondering why I have posted a picture of my messy desk, please go to The Stamping Ground to find out more about What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday.  And have a peek at what all the fabulous crafters out there are up to!

Shouldn't I be working on some xmas stuff?

Yes, I should be working on some Xmas cards, tags, etc but I took a break from it to make these two cards for two special ladies.
And I also took the opportunity to break free from my usual layout of framed image in a frame.  And used more than one paper per card.  Yay, I am branching out!

Tonight I have started a new project.  It is a Christmas project and I am not sure yet if I will document it along the way or just show the finished product at the end.

Next post will be a WOYWW and you can get a peek at what I am doing but it won't really show what exactly the end product will be.  You will have to stay tuned to find that out ...... hopefully it will be done before Xmas, ha ha!

WOYWW Nov 24/10

Time for another edition of What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday (aka WOYWW)!  This is where you take a picture of your desk and then post a link to it here at the Queen of WOYWW 's blog.  It is great fun and you can see everyone's work areas and have a little peek into their creative lives!
My desk doesn't look too messy today but that may be because I did a rather close-up shot of just the area I was actually working in.  And look!  I am working on something other than a Christmas card!  I have now finished the card that I was working on here and will post it when I get some daylight to take the picture.
I am off to peek around some other desks now ..... and hello to any WOYWWers that have come to peek here!

We Wish You a Blingy Xmas

Yes, it is another Xmas card. Actually I made three that look just like this one. This card was so simple to make, maybe next year I will just do an assembly line of these cards. I could make so many of them in such a short time!

Getting there ...

A few more Xmas cards are done.  I really like this one.  This particular one with the gold embossed words, I had almost thrown away because the words were unreadable when the embossing powder melted together in the narrowest part of the letters.  I put it aside thinking I might cut out the reindeer to use elsewhere and stamped the words on the next two cards in gold ink instead. I went back to the original and wondered if I could just scrape out the part of the letters that had filled in.  It worked! And now I like this one over the inked ones!
Here are all three, you can see the inked letters on the one in the back.  I like it as well but the all-embossed is my fave.
Oh and I didn't have any gold foil paper so I painted white paper with gold Paint Dabber to make the framing bit, hee hee.

And these two trees are examples of my finally breaking out of my pattern of only using one DP as a background, lol.

What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday Nov 17/10

It is that time again! What time? Time for WOYWW!  When everyone shows what is on their workdesk and then leaves a link here at the fabulous blog Stamping Ground
Today on my desk is the makings of a few Christmas cards.  I will finish these off and then maybe take a break from Christmas cards for a couple days.  I love Christmas but even I may have a limit of how many Christmas themed cards I can stand to make in a row, ha ha.  I am off now to visit some other desks out there in Blogland and see who has the messiest desk and who has the neatest desk!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

Having fun with my Xmas tree die and Distress Inks!  And two more Xmas cards are done!  Voila!

2 More Xmas Cards

Two Christmas cards that are the same stamp but coloured with different colours and different background papers.  On the first card, in with the sequins is a clear plastic snowflake but in the photo it looks like a splodge of some sort.  Take my word for it, it looks okay in real life :)

More Christmas cards and tags are in the works!

WOYWW Nov 10/10

Yay!  It is time for WOYWW!  If you are wondering what this is check out the excellent blog Stamping Ground.  It is so much fun, lovely and wonderful crafters from all over post a picture of What's On Your Workdesk (and it takes place on Wednesday).  And then you can pop by everyone's desk and see what creations and/or mischief they are up to!
I am getting into the Christmas cards now and will probably concentrate on those a bit more until I have enough to give out this Christmas.  I love Christmas so this is extra fun for me!  I have out a few of my Christmas stamps to inspire me and to let the images get into my brain and (hopefully) come up with ideas.
(And also on my desk you can see my new favourite Starbucks cup!  It is actually ceramic and everything tastes really good when I drink from it, hee hee! )
I am excited to see everyone's desk this week and see what everyone is up to!

Alice in Octopode Land

Another set of digi-stamps from Octopode Factory.  This is the Alice In Wonderland set.  In real life, the sentiment tag blends better with the card and the spray doesn't stand out quite as much.  This was a fun card to make and it took awhile because I kept thinking of things to do to it and would have to let paint or spray dry in between each step.
Next up is more Christmas cards!

I got ATCs in the mail!

I am soooo lucky!  I got the most beautiful ATCs in the mail today!  They are from a lovely, lovely lady who has a blog here.  She is so talented and you should go check out her blog called My Crafty Dog and I.  Thank you Sam!

And I have not given up on the Art Everyday Month!  I spent the whole afternoon colouring some more Octopode images and making a background for a card.  It just needs a couple tweaks and then to be put together and then I will post it.

November Is Art Every Day Month!

While blog hopping, someone (sorry have forgotten who already, too many blogs hopped today) mentioned this November Art EveryDay group.  I am going to try to do this!  Every day may be too much for me to post a finished project but it is okay because the idea is to CREATE everyday, which I can and will do!  Who else is up for this?!  Hope to see you there!
These cards were made using Octopode Factory digi-stamps!  (I have a link to her blog on my sidebar)  I like these stamps so much that I have ordered more characters from her line, so watch this space for more .....

WOYWW Nov3/10

Wow, it is time for What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday again!  Where did the week go?
If you would like to join this fun blog hop just visit the wonderful blog of Miss Dunnit here.  It is so much fun to see everyone's work areas.  But if you're like me you will get sidetracked by all the awesome projects people are working on!
My desk today is in the middle of a card using Octopode Factory digi stamps.  I love these little characters and she sells them on Etsy.
Thank you to everyone who visited last week and to everyone who is here now having a peek!  I am off now to see all the desks I can and hopefully I will get to them all this week!

Puppy Kisses

A wonderful friend/dogwalker took out the girls for many walks while I was recovering from my surgery and I made her a Thank You card.  And I got to use my dog stamp that DH got for me a couple weeks back!

Christmas is coming?!

I have made 4 more Christmas cards!  If I can keep it up, I just may be ready by Christmas!  These cards are all heavy on the embossing because that is what I was into for the day, even the inside sentiments are embossed.  The background is made using the Tim Holtz method of stamping my craft sheet with ink pads, spraying with water and rubbing the paper around in the coloured water.  I think it turned out really well for the sky in these cards.
They are the same card but yet all slightly different.  At least anyone on my Christmas list that looks at my blog will not know exactly what card they will get!

WOYWW

This is my first What's on Your Workdesk? Wednesday !
I have visited the wonderful Miss Dunnit's blog Stamping Ground regularly and seen this feature a few times!  I am the type of person who has the Flickr group "What's In Your Bag" saved as a favourite and this is similar ..... only better!  I love love love looking at everyone's workspace's and would love to get in there and try out their stuff!  I find it inspirational!
My desk is fairly tidy as I do share it with the DH (somewhat), so I try to leave him a little space when I am done crafting for the moment.  Otherwise it would probably never get tidied up.  I am in the middle of working on a Christmas card here and will post that up when I have finished it.
Thanks for stopping by!

Poppy

DH asked if I could make a poppy pin for him for Remembrance Day.  Yes, I can!

Two More Xmas Cards

This is one of the first stamps I ever ordered!  I saw it and thought that even if I could just colour it in and plop it on a card, without doing anything else, it would be a cute card.  Finally, I got it out and attempted to colour it in.  I do not have the artisitic talent of some at shading etc but the stamp is cute enough to hold its own, ha ha.  I got out the CuttleBug and embossed the green and white cardstock, cut out a little Xmas ticket and then for the first time used my dimensional foam to raise the image up off the card.  You can sort of see it in the picture from the shadows they create.  Cute little mousie!

My 2nd card is another stamp that I ordered, knowing that it is adorable enough to look good no matter what!  I really love this stamp!  And it is probably going to be the one I use the most this year for Xmas cards.  So anyone on my Xmas list, you may be ruining your surprise if you are looking!

I got a card in the mail!

Look what I got in the mail!  A beautiful card from Sam at My Crafty Dog and I !  It is so lovely and she used one of my very favourite stamps on it, MoonGirl!  I have one on order after I first saw it on Sam's blog.  What a wonderful person Sam is, don't you think?  Check out her blog, she is a great artist and she inspires me to keep creating!

Loving the Tattered Flowers

I just love the Tattered Flowers!  They are so fun to make and I love how they look at the end!  I made two flowers and therefore made two cards that are similar yet have a different feel because of the colours.

These cards are largely Tim Holtz products (Tattered Flower die, Patchwork Embossing Folder and Distress Inks) but also Whimsy Stamps for the background Ad Print stamp on the first one and Smooch Spritz sprayed on the flowers.

Be prepared to see more of these flowers in the future, lol!  And I am now wanting the Tim Holtz Rosette die.........  it never ends!

Just a little tag

Well, it's started, I had some papers to give a friend and decided to include a little tag in the envelope.  I can see that I will probably just start giving people little paper crafts at random opportunities!

My DH is the best!

My DH came home with stash for me!  He is the best!  I think I'll keep him!

One Stamp, Two Cards

I really like how these 2 cards turned out.  There is hope for me yet!  The stamp is by Stamp Barn and they are coloured with Twinkling H2O paints.  They have a nice shimmer to them that you can't really see in the picture but trust me, it's there!  I painted one in traditional Christmas colours and the other one in not so traditional colours.

Hmmmmm

This is a card I made for another of DH's aunts.  I was thinking I wanted plain and simple but I am thinking this may be TOO plain.  I will post again if I add to it.  I do love the orange slices on this card, I painted them with Twinkling H2O 's  and they are so shimmery!

The Cubes!

Here are the cubes I put together.  Not organized inside yet as I want but I am loving them!  Once I get them really organized I may have to add a couple ...... or maybe 5 eventually!  But don't tell my DH about it, ha ha!

Friday, October 15, 2010

My lil' sis got her card today, so I can now post a pic of it.  It isn't as layered as I am realizing I like in a "grunge" type of card.  But I wanted to give her an idea of what I was talking about on the phone.  It's all a learning process, right?
And I have pretty much finished another card but it is for someone else who might see it, so once again it will be posted at a later date.
And I did manage to get my craft room storage shelves/cubes set up!  And it almost killed me!  While assembling the units, I tripped on a bin full of stamping supplies and flew across the room.  Luckily I was able to stop myself by banging my head into the door!  What a klutz!  I am okay now but I sure was sore yesterday.  But my supplies now have a home, so that is what is really important!
I have started a couple more cards so I should be posting those in the next day or so!  The more of this I do, the more fun and addicting it is becoming!

New Stash!

Woo hoo!  I got new stash in the mail today!  And since I am not posting any projects it seems, I thought I would show what I got!  Of course, don't look too closely because I will be using some of this very soon and you'll ruin the surprise, ha ha!
